Hometown hockey hero Brian Gionta and his wife Harvest Gionta announced that they are donating ice skates to the Town of Greece for residents to use on the outdoor rink. This generous donation includes 50 pairs of brand-new ice skates ranging in sizes from youth to adult as well as one dozen helmets for optional use. Additionally, Brian has partnered with Locker Room Sports on behalf of the Town of Greece to have the skates regularly sharpened at no cost.

Ice skating is an activity Brian is passionate about. He joined the NHL New Jersey Devils in 2001 and was a member of their 2003 Stanley Cup Finals winning team. In addition, he has played for the Montreal Canadians and the Buffalo Sabres. Brian and Harvest Gionta are making these donations to help promote skating among the Greece community, the town they love and are active members of.

The Town of Greece skating rink is located on the Pickleball Courts, just outside the Community Center at 3 Vince Tofany Blvd in Greece. The rink is open Monday – Friday, 3:00pm – 9:00pm and Saturday – Sunday, 10:00am – 9:00 pm. You can bring your own skates or use the donated skates, which are available for free at the Community Ice Rink Warming Hut during open skate hours. The skating rink is available for free to Greece residents and $1 for non- residents.

Hundreds of people from the community enjoy our outdoor winter ice skating rink. The Town of Greece is so thankful to Brian and Harvest Gionta for their generous donation and I encourage the families in our community to stop by and enjoy the ice rink this winter,” Supervisor Bill Reilich said.
