The following events help support Greece Food Shelf through the summer months when children are home from school with less access to free breakfast/lunch programs. There is always a need for more volunteers. In addition to these two important events, drivers are needed. Drivers can volunteer their time as little as one day each month or more often if desired. Call 277 5370 to join us. This is also an opportunity to meet a lot of nice people within our community.

The CROP WALK provides the opportunity to donate, walk, or volunteer on May 6th at 1:00 PM at Messiah Lutheran Church at the corner of English and Mt Read Blvd. If you wish to donate and to walk, contact your local church or call the Food Shelf at 277 5370. The walk can be as short as you can manage or it can follow an outlined path with other walkers. Afterwards, join us at Messiah Lutheran for food and fun.

Most of the money from the CROP WALK stays locally with a portion going to end state, federal, and international hunger, a lot of good comes from this commitment. All ages are encouraged to join in, and this is the perfect time for kids to understand that there are those who are hungry and they can help. It is also an excellent opportunity to educate our youth on the value of helping others.

The annual postal workers food drive “STAMP OUT HUNGER” is scheduled for Saturday, May 12th. While shopping consider picking up non-perishable food items to leave for your mail carrier to pick up on Saturday, May 12th. Your mail carrier will pick up your donation when the mail is delivered.
