The W.E.V.P. Horticulture Scholarship program was established in 1994 in honor of Willard E. Van Putte, the founder of Van Putte Gardens. In commemoration, Van Putte Gardens offers an annual scholarship award of $500 to a graduating local high school senior who demonstrates excellence in academics and community involvement, and who is planning a future career in horticulture or its related fields. Past W.E.V.P. Scholarship recipients have pursued studies in turf maintenance, landscape design, environmental science and forestry, and natural resources conservation.

Van Putte Gardens will celebrate its 70th anniversary this year.
