Successful Transition at Greece Ecumenical Food Shelf

Over the past few weeks, the GEFS has been reconfigured to a hybrid Client Choice food pantry through the hard work of many volunteers.

Many thanks to Sandy Ericson, Kate LaBarca, Frank and Deb Leskovic, Karen Lockhart, Polly and Bob McCubbin, Jeff Munson, Joe Munson, Lee and Steven Stello, Bob and Amy Peritsky, Eileen Webber, Becky Wren, and Rhonda Breedlove and the crew from Ralph Honda for cleaning, painting, building shelf bases, assembling and moving shelves and equipment, and stocking shelves. Thank you to Joe LaBarca for being our photographer.  Every task was important, we couldn’t have done this without everyone’s generous contribution of their time and energy.

Special mention goes to Polly and Bob McCubbin for designing the layout, designing and sewing the drapes to separate the warehouse from the shopping area, making aprons for the volunteers, and creating the signage and name tags.

The GEFS started welcoming clients on July 10th and were ready. The first clients seemed delighted to be able to select their own food choices. For more information, call 277 5370 to speak to a volunteer.

Plans are being made for Thanksgiving Baskets, to volunteer, donate or to have your name on a client list to receive a Thanksgiving dinner call Carol Coons  277 5370.
