The Kiwanis Club had the privilege of hearing from Dave DiFranco, President of Veterans Plus Assistance Corporation (VPAC).

VPAC is a 501c3, nonprofit organization formed to help Veterans, Active Military, and their families. They assist Veterans in finding their way back into the civilian lifestyle, while giving members of the Active Military the peace of mind knowing that someone is going to be there for them and their family, even after active duty.

Within the “umbrella” of VPAC, there are:

•Combat Comedians – “Healing Through Humor” – This is a program that teaches creative writing and trains Veterans to perform in live comedy shows to help them overcome their PTSD, while giving them the tools and opportunity to earn money.

•Pets Fur Vets – This program helps link veterans with support animals. They also have Punchlines Fur Pets – Performances by Combat Comedians to raise money for animal shelters and Pets Fur Vets support animals.

•VET66 – This program is a dynamic coaching program that helps Veterans and Active Military find their passion and create freedom in their lives.

•VET/COM – this program is a telephone based friendly call, Veteran to Veteran.

•NYSHIC (New York School of Home Inspection & Construction) – This program offers training that encompasses construction, property maintenance, and building inspections (funding for this program is already in place for our visit). They cooperate with existing community resources and to address Veteran homelessness. This program will be building tiny homes for the upcoming community projects.
