On April 16, 2019 at the Greece Town Board meeting a very special member of the Greece Police Team was recognized. After seven years of service to the Force, K9 Chip is retiring. Chip’s retirement and outstanding service to the Force was recognized and commended during the meeting.

K9 Chip was originally purchased from Shallow Creek Kennels in Pennsylvania. He is trained and certified as a NYS Duel-Purpose K9 in Narcotics and has worked as a Narcotic K9 and also as a Human Remains Detection K9 for the past five years. Chip was certified by the International Work Dogs Association (IPWDA) as a Cadaver K9 and was only one of a few Police Narcotic K9s in the whole state to hold an IPWDA certification. Chip has assisted agencies across Western New York and has also assisted almost every police agency here in Monroe County throughout his years in service.

“The Town of Greece and the Greece Police Department are incredibly proud of the ways in which Chip has protected the men and women of the Greece Police Department and the citizens he served. We wish Chip the best as he retires from the Force – he will be missed,” Greece Town Supervisor Bill Reilich said.
