New Story Walk Area on Greece Town Hall Campus

By on September 13, 2018

A StoryWalk® has been installed along the Greece Town Hall Campus Walking Trail. An Unveiling Ceremony was held on August 13, 2018 celebrating the installation completion of the StoryWalk®.

StoryWalk® resulted from a collaboration between the Greece Public Library and the Town of Greece Parks and Recreation Department and provides a new enhancement to the paved walking trail at the Greece Town Hall Campus. There are 18 reading stations of the StoryWalk which are spaced along a 1⁄4 mile of the trail. The stations consist of weather resistant frames installed along the trail containing pages from children’s books. The first featured book is Be Who You Are by Todd Parr, who encourages children to embrace their individuality and be proud of what makes them unique. With its bold outlines and vibrantly colored pages, Be Who You Are is sure to be a big hit with children and adults alike.

The Friends of the Greece Public Library provided funding for the frames.
The StoryWalk® concept is the creation of Anne Ferguson and the Kellogg-Hubbard Library in Montpelier, VT.

“This is a wonderful way for adults and their young children or grandchildren to combine literacy skills and healthy exercise as they visit the 18 reading stations of the StoryWalk®. We are happy to offer both educational and exercise opportunities at the Greece Town Hall Campus,” said Supervisor Reilich.
