On April 23, 2019, the Kiwanis Club of Greece had the pleasure of hearing from Shannon Megna, Volunteer Coordinator, Caregiver Respite Program through Lifespan-Rochester.

Lifespan’s Caregiver Respite service needs volunteers to provide much-needed respite for caregivers of those with early stage dementia or noticeable forgetfulness. They provide training, ongoing support and match you with a family.

You would provide friendly visits and caring companionship that gives caregivers time for themselves. Activities may include: engaging in conversation; looking at family photos; enjoying music, games, baking, or crafts; gardening or going for a walk; cooking a meal together; sharing simple household tasks; going out for coffee/afternoon tea.
