40th Annual Rotary Ziti Dinner
The Greece Rotary Italian Festa Ziti Dinner is scheduled for Sunday, February 12 at the Diplomat Party House, 1956 Lyell Avenue in Gates. Service will begin at 11:30 a.m. and continue to 4:30p.m. The dinner is the club’s major fundraiser, netting over $40,000 each year. Monies raised help to support the many community projects of the Club, including Greece Challenger Little League, High School Scholarships, Dictionaries for third graders to name a few.
The first Ziti Dinner was held at the Mother of Sorrows Church in Greece, where it served up delicious pasta for 19 years. Having outgrown the space available, the dinner was moved to the Diplomat where it has been ever since. A true volunteer event, over 80 Rotarians are on hand to cook and serve, greet, wait table and make new friends for Rotary. Greece High School Interact students provide additional volunteer support to the event.
“If past year’s experience holds true,” said Chuck Krause, “this will be the place to be on Sunday, February 12, as we serve over 2,000 dinners. Pasta, meatballs, salad, rolls and ice cream are all included.” Tickets are $8.00adults/$4.00 children 5 and under. Take-out orders are available for $1.00 additional charge. Tickets can be purchased from any Rotarian or at the door on the day of the event.
