Oratorical Contest – Deadline 12/22

By on December 18, 2017

Greece Rotary Club would like to invite high school juniors within the Greece School District to participate in the annual Rotary District 7120 Oratorical Contest for the 2017-18 school year. Students are asked to present a speech on the Rotary Four Way test, defining their ethical views.  Applicants must live in the Greece Central School District, be an academic junior in high school, private school or be homeschooled.

The test requires four questions be applied to any decision making process to lead to an ethical life:  Is it the Truth? Is it fair to all concerned? Will it build goodwill and better friendships? Will it be beneficial to all concerned? This is the Four Way Test that forms the foundation for all Rotarian activities.

The winner of the Oratorical Contest is eligible for scholarships from many area colleges and universities, including Alfred State, Elmira College, Finger Lakes Community College,Keuka College, Monroe Community College, Nazareth College, Roberts Wesleyan College, Rochester Institute of Technology, St.John Fisher College, SUNY Geneseo, College at Brockport and University of Rochester.

The application for the Oratorical contest can be downloaded from the Rotary District 7120 website at https://portal.clubrunner.ca/50098/sitepage/oratorical-contest.   Once completed it should be forwarded to Melissa Jordan, Chair, at majordan@mtb.com.  The deadline for receipt of applications is December 22, 2017.
