Impossible things are happening everyday…especially at Greece Athena High School this January 31, February 1,2,7,8,9 when they present the New Broadway version of Cinderella at the Greece Central Performing Arts Center.

This enchanting, adaptation of the beloved musical will put a spell on audiences of all ages. Rodgers + Hammerstein’s Cinderella showcases some of the songwriting duo’s loveliest tunes, including “In My Own Little Corner,” “Impossible/It’s Possible,” and “Ten Minutes Ago,” as well as adding some new characters and surprising twists. This lavish and lush production will feature an incredible orchestra, a dash of fairy-tale romance, magical onstage transformations, and the iconic pumpkin and glass slippers. All this and you’re guaranteed to have a ball! During the intermission at each show there will be a brief costume parade for any young Cinderella’s and Prince Charming’s in the audience.

Based on historic tales, Cinderella tells the story of Ella, played by senior Domenique D’Amico, a thoughtful and kind young woman whose situation seems dire as she is made to work for her unkind stepmother, Madame and serve her stepsisters Charlotte and Gabrielle. There is great excitement in the kingdom when a ball for Prince Topher, played by junior Coty Perno, is announced, a party that has been planned by the chancellor, Sebastian to find a wife for the future king. Ella values kindness above all else, and nurtures friendships with political activist Jean-Michel, and local crazy lady Marie, played by Cinderella’s real life twin sister senior Jessica D’Amico who, in a twist of good karma, turns out to be a fairy godmother who can make Ella’s wildest dreams come true. Cue the coach, the horses, the footman, and, of course, the gown.

This heartwarming tale proves that goodness overcomes adversity and that dreams really do come true. Rodgers+Hammerstein’s Cinderella is the quintessential feel-good story full of action, romance, and humor. The new Broadway version is still that lovable rags-to-riches fairy tale with gorgeous gowns, luscious ballroom dancing, and a timeless score by the unparalleled Rodgers and Hammerstein.

Come be enchanted when the Greece Athena High School Music Theatre Department presents Rodgers+Hammerstein’s Cinderella a must-see show for young and old alike. Tickets are available online at showtix4U.com, all area Wegmans and at the door. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to The Golisano Children’s Hospital here in Rochester.
