The Greece Arcadia Boys Golf Team won the Greece Cup for the first time on Monday, April 10, 2017 at Ridgemont Country Club on West Ridge Road in Greece.

Started in 2010, the Greece Cup is a friendly competition between the boys golf teams from Arcadia, Athena, Olympia and Odyssey High Schools. In the previous seven years the cup has been won, each year, by the Greece Athena team.

In the tradition of giving back to the Greece community, Ridgemont Country Club has graciously hosted the Greece Cup Tournament at no charge to the school every year since its inception in 2010.

Leading the charge this year for the Arcadia Titans were sophomore Tyler Snedden with a 43 and senior Rhys Levesque with a 48. Arcadia Golf team coach Ed Patt says, “Arcadia is off to a 4-1 start, its best in a few years. They have a good balance of talent within the grade levels. In the top six players there are three seniors, Rhys Levesque, Joe Vrielynck, and Zack Sechrist, two sophomores, Tyler Snedden and Cameron Misiurewicz and an 8th grader, Dylan Tompkins.”

Coach Patt attributes the success of this group to team work. “We have a great group of kids that love to play golf. They encourage each other and help each other out, and they are open to suggestions. They are fun to coach,” Patt says.

The team is made up of students from 8th Grade to Seniors. They play 16 matches in the season leading up to the Monroe County Tournament in May where top players compete for a spot in the Tournament of Champions and Section 5 Tournament.
