Don't miss

From the Supervisor – August 2019

Summer is in full swing here at Greece Town Hall. We just held our biggest event of the year: The Old Fashioned 4th of July Celebration! As in years past, we saw thousands of attendees flock to the Town Hall Campus for the day’s festivities. Kicking off the day was our 5K Freedom Run and Super Hero Sprint for kids. Evening festivities picked up around 4:00pm with family- friendly and children’s activities and food provided from some of our favorite local food truck vendors. During the live concerts of the evening, attendees were treated to a wonderful performance by two popular local bands: Ruby Shooz and Nik & The Nice Guys. The huge celebration ended with a bang – literally! Greece is proud to have one of the best firework displays in Monroe County, and this year did not disappoint. I would like to thank everyone who came out to enjoy Independence Day in the Town of Greece!

In June, we held our first food truck rodeo of the year in conjunction with our first summer concert of the year featuring Eddie Lee & Closing Time Band. I would like to invite you to attend our next food truck rodeo – the Annual Jerry J. Helfer Memorial Food Truck Rodeo – will be held on Sunday, August 18th. Join us at the Greece Town Hall Campus from 1pm-3pm for a delicious meal from one of 12 food vendors participating and be entertained by live music from the wildly popular Zac Brown Tribute Band! The proceeds raised from the event will go towards the Jerry J. Helfer Youth Engagement Award Scholarship, which is awarded to a student within the Greece community that regularly upholds exemplary moral values, devotes time and energy into helping serve the Greece community, and consistently displays outstanding leadership skills.

We recently welcomed a new business to town at 3811 Dewey Avenue. Congratulations to Katie Coco on the grand opening of her new business: Coco Beauty Bar! Katie is a professional make up artist, esthetician, and bridal make up specialist with over 10 years of experience. The services she offers at the beauty bar include makeup, lashes, waxing, and facials.

I would like to remind residents that you may purchase EZ Passes at the convenient location of the Greece Town Hall Clerk’s Counter. This reminder is timely as the Governor just announced that a cashless tolling system will be added to the thruway by the end of 2020. Visit the Town Clerk’s counter during regular business hours (9am – 5pm, Monday – Friday) to purchase a tag and get ahead of the rush that will likely ensue as we near 2020.

I hope that you will take advantage of all of our upcoming programs! If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact my office or visit our website. I would also like to invite you to follow my Facebook page: Bill Reilich Greece Town Supervisor. This page serves as a platform for providing information for our residents and also for answering any questions you may have.
