Fall is both a fun and beautiful season. Not only do we get to appreciate all of the colorful foliage, we also get to enjoy apple cider, donuts, bonfires, festivals, and all of the other fun festivities that come along with this season!

Looking back this past month, we have seen Town Board recognitions, new business openings, a concert and food truck rodeo, and a shredding event.

We welcomed two new businesses to town this past month. Black Hawk Lock and Key opened at 1246 Long Pond Road. They specialize in installing high quality locks for residents looking to secure their property. We also hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony for Doctor Shirley’s Body Scanning Center at 1687 English Road. The center combines technology with nutrition in the health field.

During a recent meeting of the Greece Town Board, we recognized some special members of our community. Congratulations to Scott Parr, who set a course record in winning the War Hammer 100-Mile Race in Kentucky this summer. Congratulations to Jeremias Maneiro for receiving prestigious recognition from the National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals as the 2019 Top 250 Latino Agents in the Nation. Congratulations to young residents Peyton Penna and Preston Grant on receiving recognition for their efforts in selling lemonade and using the funds to buy school supplies for children who could not afford them.

Our annual Jerry J. Helfer Memorial Food Truck Rodeo and Summer Concert was held this summer. It was a beautiful day for a concert and a food truck rodeo, with the proceeds collected going towards the the Jerry J. Helfer Youth Engagement Scholarship, which provides the Greece community with the opportunity to recognize a student that regularly upholds exemplary moral values, devotes time and energy into helping serve the Greece community, and consistently displays outstanding leadership skills. For more information about the Jerry J. Helfer Youth Engagement Scholarship, please contact the Greece Youth Board at 723-2934. The concert this year was performed by the incredibly popular Zac Brown Tribute Band. Thank you to all who came out to support this event!

Our 2nd shredding event of the year was held this past month. Hundreds flocked to the Greece Town Hall Campus to take advantage of the free shredding service we offered. It can be very expensive to have a shredding service come to a resident home, so we were glad to be able to provide this service for our residents free of charge!

As always, I enjoy hearing feedback from residents about programming and other Town-related issues. If you have any concerns, please do not hesitate to contact my office or visit our website. I would also like to invite you to follow my Facebook Page: Bill Reilich Greece Town Supervisor. This page serves as a platform for providing information for our residents and also for answering any questions you may have.
